Algan Arts. Irish Linen Print. Deer in the gardenGail Kelly. My home is a lovely old farm with a large wild garden in County Down, Northern Ireland. I love living in the countryside and its great to have my own studio and workshop just across the yard. I print my linocut designs of trees, gardens and wildlife in black ink on unbleached linen. I also make colourful hand printed collages which I sew by hand using vintage linen handed down to me by the women in my family. My limited edition lithographs

My home is a lovely old farm with a large wild garden in County Down, Northern Ireland. I love living in the countryside and it’s great to have my own studio and workshop just across the yard. 

I print my linocut designs of trees, gardens and wildlife in black ink on unbleached linen. I also make colourful hand printed collages which I sew by hand using vintage linen handed down to me by the women in my family. My limited edition lithographs depict standing stones and fairy thorn trees, distant islands and little farm cottages. I have lots of greetings cards too.

My mum taught me sewing and embroidery when I was a child and I still use these skills today. My dad and I would go off on all sorts of adventures around the countryside where folklore and old traditions were simply part of every day life. I’ve always loved printmaking and have been making linocuts since I was in primary school.

I have a degree in Printmaking from the Ulster College of Art and Design in Belfast and a MFA from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA.
